As part of the Nelson Chamber Music Series, the Omega String Trio - violinist Marc Destrubè, violist Yariv Aloni and cellist Pamela Highbaugh Aloni - will present an evening of fascinating chamber music.
Mozart/Bach Preludes and Fugues were written by Mozart late in his life. He was fascinated with Johann Sebastian Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier and wrote his own Preludes to Three of Bach's fugues which he arranged for this combination of strings.
At the young age of 26 Gideon Klein's String Trio was written in 1944 in the Terezin concentration camp, only two weeks before he was deported to Auschwitz. It is an incredibly moving work, yet full of vitality, virtuosity and spirit as if the composer is defying his fate.
Beethoven's String Trio op 9 no. 3 is a feisty and innovative music written by the young composer who already was able to break the norms.
